Please take a few minutes to relax and enjoy this footage of terns. Terns are seabirds that are normally found near the coast, rivers or wetlands. As seen in the cover photo, most terns species are black and white. These agile birds fly over water, darting, diving and capturing prey by piercing them with their pointed bills. Some tern species nest on North Carolina’s beaches, and some, such as the Least Tern, even nest on gravel rooftops. Next time you’re near coastal waters, keep your eyes peeled for these entertaining birds, and make sure you share the shore with terns and other beach-nesting birds.
