Fishing is Hot at Norfork Lake with Hummingbird Hideaway Resort and my724outdoors.com!
How the bite can change overnight. I fished yesterday morning and found lots of bait and striped bass. I fished for 3 hours and only had 1 bite and I broke him off. This morning I headed to the same area and found that the fish were feeding aggressively today. I was fishing in 65 to 85 feet of water and there were fish at all depths. The fish that I found in 50 to 80 feet of water wanted nothing to do with live bait or my spoon. Larger schools of fish started to show up under me. These guys were from 10 feet down to about 45 feet and were on the feed. I ended up landing 6 striped/hybrid bass. 4 took my live shiners set at 38 feet and the other 2 came off of my spoon. The fish wanted the spoon reeled up fast through the water column. One hit the spoon at about 5 feet under the surface and almost broke my wrists when he hit.
Norfork Lake fishing is still hot even though the temperatures are cold! I caught these fish in about 2 hours then I decided to dip into shallower water off of rocky bluff line points. I sat in 33 to 37 feet of water vertical jigging my spoon off of the bottom slowly. I landed a dozen largemouth and spotted bass on two different points. That was fun. The bass were sucking in the bait on the fall, and you did not know that you had a fish on until you raised the bait off of the bottom. Then the fish got very aggressive and gave a great battle. It was a great day for me. The surface water temp in the main lake was 48 – 49 degrees. The current depth of Norfork Lake is 553.91 ft msl. Happy fishing! All my fish were either released on site or at my dock.
