How to Find and Catch Crappie in The Late Fall with PFGFishing and my724outdoors.com!
It’s the week before Thanksgiving and we are on a mission to find schools of fish at Crab Orchard Lake in Southern Illinois. Surface temperatures are mid to upper 50s and the fish are still scattered about the lake. Most of our keeper fish came today on brush, as the stakebeds and artificial structures were pretty empty. I have gotten better at identifying non productive spots and moving on rather than getting stuck there. As always we are featuring Brushpile Jigs as the bait of choice, and we had a lot of action just not a bunch of bigger fish. Once water temps drop below 50 degrees we should see fish stacking up in schools on structure all over the lake. I am also utilizing Mafia rods today. I swapped between the 13 ft Sniper Series, the 8 ft Sharp Shooter Rod, and the 6 ft. Dock Shooter rods today. The 6 and 8 ft rods were handy underneath the bridge where there is limited headroom to work with. I am also able to shoot my jig up under the gaps in the bridge piers with the dock shooter and work my bait slowly back to the boat.
